OUR THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASSES begin on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. – HANNAH Do you realize how often women are mentioned in the Bible? Do the names like Eve, Sarah, Deborah, Ruth, Esther, Mary, the mother of Jesus, Anna, Mary and Martha, Lydia and Eunice, and Lois sound familiar? These are only a few of the great women mentioned in the Holy Scripture.
How great, beautiful, and precious is a mother’s love! The story of Hannah and Samuel shows us that a pious and loving mother is one of the greatest gifts that God can give us in this life. Hannah shows us how much we owe to our mothers. In Hannah, the Bible painted one of its most beautiful pictures of a great woman. Should we be surprised that the Bible, which normally details both the good and the bad in the lives of its characters, describes no flaw in Samuel’s personality?
